Lightning Lab GovTech 2019 individual applications are now open.

Lightning Lab GovTech provides an opportunity for individuals, startups and companies, to work on some of the most impactful problems facing government today. We’re looking for people who want to make a difference to local and central governments, who are resilient, open-minded, willing and adaptable team players.

If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you. Fill in the online application before 1 July! The programme will kick off 5 August and will run for three months, from Creative HQ’s NZ GovTech Hub in Wellington.

What projects am I applying for?

The selected projects will align with the themes of Wellbeing, Environment and E-Government. The application will ask you which theme(s) would you be most interested in working with, or offer the most value to. This will help us match your interests and skills to projects.

The required skill set of team members varies for each project. The Lightning Lab GovTech team will work to match the skills of applicants with the needs of the project teams. Creating the right dynamic within the team is essential to work together effectively and efficiently.

What skills are we looking for?

We want motivated can-do people, ready to make a difference! We are looking for developers, designers and engineers; people with marketing, communications and business expertise; people with experience in waste management, digital-identity, transport and health – just to name a few!

Why Wellbeing, Environment and E-Government?

Wellbeing, environmental destruction and growing E-Government are three of the Government’s top priorities with complex cross-agency needs. We see Lightning Lab GovTech as a tool to solve these complex problems by creating a place to experiment and test solutions.
